Perhaps he knew people would one day be talking of his work and looking deeper into it then was really there. Could it be possible that his art were simply just paintings and nothing more?

He used disinformation in his drawings and wrote in a mirror writing to disguise his inventions, mostly the war items from falling into the wrong hands.
He may have also had to hide certain ideas from the church in those days.
That is the whole reason the fiction started. Because he did that for a fact, they mixed in some real history and some fiction to make a Novel
The same as Carlos Casteneda. His books were so great for the same reason, you never knew what was true and what was magic or fiction.

Good question. Let's see, since Jesus was born in the same era as Da Vinci, it must be 100% non-fiction. If people actually sorted dates in history in a chronological order no one would of considered 'Da Vanci Code' as a possibility.

everything is possible by the way we look at it. The way it is described in the book it looks pretty impressive & cant be faulty.
got to believe it.
& there is nothing wrong in what he said. All portraid was all human relationship. About husband / wife normal relationship. Those who believe mythological stories are to be questioned, not the one who clarifies the doubt.
