Would you be prepared right now, to start tomorrow, without any of your worldy possessions? I guess this would mean living on the streets, I think that is how Jesus lived. Did he have an address? I don't think so.

To you smart-arses, what I'm saying is that Christian means Christ-like. As far as I can correlate, that means that you are supposed to follow Jesus' example. This life does not represent how heaven will be, but rather you will be judged in accordance to what you do in this life. Isn't this how you believe it will be?

How often have I heard the phrase :"There's no pockest in shrouds" or "You can't take it with you"

A home is not necessarily a worldly treasure. Jesus may have had a home. Simply because it isn't mentioned, doesn't mean it didn't exist.

The only treasure I will take with me when I die is that which I have stored up in my heart.

Right now I live in a metal container that's probably smaller than your bedroom that rolls down the road at 65 miles an hour, so yeah, that would be pretty easy.

EDIT I've been homeless before, when I was a kid. We all lived in the car and I took showers at the KOA campgrounds and stood naked wrapped in a blanket while my mom washed my clothes in a laundry mat.
Now, as for your question: This life does not represent how heaven will be, but rather you will be judged in accordance to what you do in this life. Isn't this how you believe it will be?

Yes, I agree, we will be judged according to our deeds and found lacking. Those found not in Christ will head down south. Three cheers! Here's a cookie, Oatmeal Raisin, made it myself. Enjoy!

No treasure here, unless you count the books I own. To me, those are simply a storage place for knowlege, and not really posessions (and certainly not gold!). I don't get the impression that Jesus lived on the street; the Christian scriptures talk of beggars, and Jesus clearly isn't counted among them. I don't believe that God expects us to live on the streets in order to be righteous people. If we are unhealthy, we cannot care for others, after all, and I believe that God expects us to take care of ourselves so that we in turn can do his work by taking care of others.

Good question.

I tend to hold my philosophies too closely, but as for other possessions, no, I'd happily give it all up tomorrow if that is where life takes me.

Of course, we live in relationships and therefore have obligations not only to ourselves but to others. That means living in suburbs, working in jobs and paying bills.

For all the decades of spiritual reflections, the thousands of books, all the wisdom I've witnessed and felt I truly believe the hardest challenge in the world is to be a spiritual and good person living in modern cities.

It is easy to sit on a mountain asking others for help. It is easy to walk around with no possessions, because it also means no shared obligations for the welfare of others.

That is why I respect each and every person who struggles with their faith everyday to be a good person and still go to work and help their family. They are the real holy spirits, the spiritual heroes.

as a Jew i amassed alot of money and things

i realized it couldnt by me happiness and was going to commit suicide

now I have come to know Jesus as my savior and best friend-I have lived under a tree lol and gone out daily witnessing and I have lived in luxury too-its all good when you keep Jesus first

John 3 repent and be born again to see the kingdom of heaven-u cant take it with you but you can the joy of sharing while you can-but never give away what you need to maintain yourself-so you can be there for others too.

Have I amassed treasures? Not nearly as much as I'd like.

Do you really think all Christians should be homeless street people? That's just silly.

Are you saying that living in heaven is like living on the street? If so, what do you think hell is like?
