I think having been in the patient's position or that of the family makes any health care professional better. It helps them to relate to their patients better. It gives them an insight into the way they are feeling or what they're thinking. It's like the old saying to really understand someone you must walk a mile in their shoes.

No, experiencing illness does not make a better nurse. A nurse is caring and competent....niether requires having illness to become a good nurse.

no. nurses do not necessarily need to experience illness in order for them to be a good, better nurse...

experience wise, it will tell if the nurse is good or not...

also, its in the characteristics of human that differs us from one another...
