Hi

One of our puppies can not put his foot down, so can not walk. He was fine then when he woke up he could not walk on it. I am not sure if the other puppies were a little rough with him, but mum was in garden so was not her. I am going to take to vet first thing in morning but in the mean time - does anyone know what might be wrong and whether it is likely to be a strain or a break. He is not crying or wincing when it is touched, but I don't know if at this age they would feel a break?

puppies have a growth plate above there foot and it is easily damaged . as a result of this the puppy has a high chance of his foot growing outwards! puppy fractures dont show up in scans for 10 to 14 days so depending on when he started holding his foot up it might be pointless taking him to the vet just yet but dont leave it to long, good luck

I had a baby rabbit once who acted the same and he had a broken foot. If it is broken, it seems as though it would swell up. Until you can get him to the vet, try and keep him from moving as much as you can.
