Hi Philip, thanks for your help, so how do I check if my SATA drive is running at maximum speed?

Are you sure of that ?
The speed of your drive is determined by the SATA controller & not the IDE controller.

Serial ATA drives:
SATA I drives run at 150MBps
SATA II drives run at 300MBps

IDE drives:
UDMA 5 is 100MBps
UDMA 6 is 133MBps

Unless you are using a special adapter to connect the SATA dive to an IDE connection this is not an issue.
