I have got Win XP and Word XP. I have installed e-language station, so there is a small language bar on my computer screen and I can choose English or Hindi while working on MS Word files. Sometimes, when I put my cursor on the language bar to change the language, the Word file gets stuck and it does not obey any command. The system gets hanged for MS Word but I can do other works i.e. surfing the net, opening other folders. At last, I have to resort to Ctrl+Alt+Del to access the Windows Task Manager to close the Word file. This does not happen always but most of the times.

This is a very annoying problem and kills a great deal of time. What is the possible reason and how can I get rid of the same?

I'm curious why you added a program. XP handles Hindi natively.

I think that you should uninstall the e-language station and set up XP to use Hindi as an additional language. XP then has a toolbar to select various languages.

32bit programs should handle the language change "on the fly", where with 16bit programs, you must stop the program, change language, and restart the program.

Enabling support for Indian languages (Indic) on your computer with Windows XP:
Windows XP has inbuilt Indian languages features. If you enable these features, you will be able to view the Hindi pages much better. You must have at least 10 MB of free hard disk space and the Installation Disk of Windows ready, before starting. Please close any open programs.
1. Go to Control Panel (from the “Start” button)
2. Go to Regional and Language Options
3. Click the “Languages” tab
4. Check (click) the line marked “Install files for complex scripts and right to left languages (including Thai)”
When you check this line, a new window will appear, which will give a list of languages that will be installed. This list will include ‘Indic’. It will ‘warn’ you that you need at least 10 MB of hard disk space. Click OK to close this window. Then click OK on the Regional and Languages Options window. You will be asked to restart your computer.
