I don't know the specific reason here, but it could be that the one airport is busier than the other (which makes it less expensive to fly to) or that the taxes/exchange rates are better in Vietnam.

Perhaps the price that u have gotten is a direct flight?Direct flights are known to be more "pricy" than layover flights.Instead of thai airways, have u checked how much Malaysia Airlines wud cost? When we fly to asia from Stockholm, sometimes we have layovers via Bangkok to Malaysia.Perhaps u can google up nother airlines to compare prices instead of flying with Thai Air ways.Good Luck!

because more people go to bangkok than vietnam. it's the same reason why airlines charge more during the christmas season... the more people are flying, the greater the demand for the limited amount of seats, the higher the price for each seat.

Its probably down to Landing Fees and Fuel Charges at the two different airports. Bangkok have a new airport and are likely trying to recover some of the cost of its build - higher landing fees

Simple - 'supply and demand'. Airlines charge what they can reasonably get away with (sometimes, as at holidays, unreasonably!) Shop around. Deals do sometimes crop up.
