Yes it takes about a week for the bruised gum to start healing and to harden.Providing there is no bleeding still the pain and discomfort should ease over the next two or three days and by the end of next week you will hardly know it was done.Chin up and smile.i

Hi are you making sure your mouth is super clean by using mouth wash ? i had a tooth out a couple of years ago and the dentist left half of it in there and he wondered why it wouldnt heal up ,give it a couple more days and still in pain go back there ,just keep taking pain killers give it till monday ,keep your mouth really clean by brushing and using mouth wash between brushes or you could get an in fection ,hope you feel better soon xx

This is okay, we should be talking ache-y here rather than serious pain.

Trying rinsing your mouth out with salty water (gross but it works)

Re not being able to open mouth - did the dentist put pressure on your lower jaw? This is what happened to me and i couldn't yawn, eat etc.

Wisdom teeth can cause more on-going pain and nuisance than regular teeth.

If you are still concerned, please contact your dentist, thats what he's there for!

Get well soon, XXX.

Which teeth did you have extracted? Were they wisdom teeth? Were they root canal treated teeth? If you had them taken out on Thursday, then right now would be the peak time for swelling. Stay on soft foods. If the teeth were lower molars and the pain gets worse, you may have dry sockets, call your DDS to have them treated with a medicated dressing.

Rinse your mouth regularly with warm salt water. If you're still in pain after a week, go back to your dentist.

yes because your gum is still healing. Some people find it takes a couple of weeks until it goes back to normal.

If you have any pus etc it might mean that you have picked up an infection and you will need to go back to the dentist or doctors to get a course of antibiotics.

its normal. don't eat anything hard or with sharp edges and chew on the opposite side if possible. take painkillers and rinse you're mouth out twice a day with salt and warm water, not a pleasent taste but affective, trust me.

if you are having real pain then you may have an infection, this happened to me twice and had to have antibiotics, go to your nearest duty dentist and keep on the pain killers, if it is just extraction pain then take strong painkillers.
