Probably not. I feel like my doctors can't really give me proper treatment because my case seems to be so rare. But, when you think about it, the spleen is a very delicate organ, so having an accident that causes multiple bone fractures would most likely cause the spleen to rupture as well. Is there anybody else out there who shares my infirmity that can advise me?

I gave up my spleen and my left kidney after a near-fatal auto accident in 1990.
In 1999, I had lower back surgery (not related to the auto accident but rather due to a genetic parsing defect at L4/L5).
I have lived quite well without a spleen for these 17 years and have NOT run to the Doctor with every little cold - as they advised me.
There are a lot of other immune systems present in the body which can take over for the spleen.
As far as my back surgery, I have 4 screws and 4 rods holding L4/L5 together and am moving around better than I did before the surgery.
My advice, if you care to hear it: Think like you CAN, and think yourself well. Imagine that even if you've lost a pawn or two in a chess game, you can still win the game.

The FLYWHO lady might be right except for one thing... Are you in pain? It's easy to move ahead when you are not suffering, but I am aware that pain can be a real set-back in recovery. I have witnessed it. A person in physical body pain is a person in mental anguish, without the capability of thinking clearly or even the ability to focus on regular daily activities that we all take for-granted. If you are still suffering, find a good pain management doctor, and see what options may be there for you, like perhaps cortisone injections, aqua-therapy, or physical/occupational rehabilitation.
