the reason is scientific. Chewing with mouth open dries up your saliva resulting in impropaer digestion. Most of the society ethics were designed with some reasons. The only problem is that we remember the ethics but we have forgotten the reasons. And today, people know that chewing with mouth open is bad manners, but they don't the the concept of this ethical design.
All the best...

It is rude and disgusting to eat with your mouth open. I was taught from the moment I was old enough to know what it meant that open mouth chewing is rude. If I'm dining with someone who doesn't understand that, I will leave the table. It ruins the meal and makes me sick.
If someone asks you a question while you are eating, you should swallow what's in your mouth before you answer. At the very least, you should cover your mouth.
People look around and make eye contact while they are eating. Your mouth is part of your face. Keep your mouth closed.

It's disgusting. No one actually looks into the mouth of people they see during times of eating, the mouth is part of the face, and the face is what we see. Chewing with the mouth open is very noisy, some people smack their mouths as they chew, or bits of food go flying out. It's just overall disgusting.

It is bad habit to make sound while eating. Closing the mouth reduces any remaining sound. Moreover any food may nor shoot out while chewing in a closed mouth.

I would rather listen to a baby screaming or a car alarm than someone chewing with their mouth open and packed full... I'm a very laid back person but that noise makes me insane. I just don't understand how people making that much noise can't hear themselves and how annoying they are being!
Slurping drinks and soup is possibly the most annoying thing a human being can do (in my humble opinion). You know the sound of a dog licking itself? Yeah... That's like people eating with their mouths open.
I think that it's actually kind of disrespectful, unless the person is truly oblivious to how obnoxious and annoying they are being.

So that your food doesn't come flying out of your mouth. Plus it's noisy to chew with your mouth open. Lastly, people who are brought up with good manners chew with their mouths closed.

Because if you do not close your mouth food or saliva may escape your mouth. It is surely rude to eat with your mouth open but it is even more rude to spit food or saliva at anyone who might be eating with you.
PLUS, no one wants to see your food as you are chewing it, it's just plain gross.

Because it is not the good habit as it troubles everyone to see you eating\chewing with your mouth opened. And all the micro organisms around you may go inside your mouth.

Bcos it's gross to have food flying and juices spewing out of ur mouth on the table. Besides, it'll make a noisy deal if u hav a whole family chewing on crunchy foodstuff while talking during dinner too.

So you don't hear the nasty sound of food squishing together. Also, food might fall out. It's just a tactful thing to do.
It's also bad to talk with food in your mouth. I was with this girl once at a restaurant, and she talked with her mouth open and a bit of food FLEW across the table onto my plate. Very disgusting.
