I was just curious as to know if anyone know the current events of Hawaii? The land is being taken away still. The culture has declined. The language has declined. The cost of living is high and affordable housing is expensive. The local people here can hardly afford rent. It's over crowded. I fear that this paradise will soon be lost. Does anyone know what really going on here? It seems like Hawaii's a forgotten state.

Yes but isn't the culture coming back? Aren't Hawaiian language and history being taught in Hawaii? I know there are a lot of Hawaiian programs to help those of Hawaiian ancestry. But the decline of the culture and language was a dramatic change and it isn't the same anymore, a lot was lost. The cost of living, groceries, rent, ect... I know is extremely high and ridiculous. Remember those who are the ones responsible are doing it for money. It's so over crowded that there's traffic backed up everywhere where there never were. The average cost of a house is between 500,000 to 1,000,000, and thats on the average. A lot of the natural beauty and parks are being bought so the local people can't enjoy it anymore and there's so many hotels being built it's ridiculous. Hawaii or the island your talking about was once a peaceful place and now it's as though everything is being taken from them.

Back in the early 1930s my grandparents spent their honeymoon there. They went there from Toronto Canada, and it was a really big deal in those days.
I don't know what is going on in Hawaii....I have no idea what the U.S. federal government is doing for the state's sad state, but I'm sorry to hear that the immigrants are doing the natives wrong.
What land belongs to the aboriginals should stay in their hands. The culture, and language should be maintained at a great cost or lose it at even a greater cost to the social order on the island. The feds should be working on this with the locals.
Here in Canada the Aboriginal population suffers the same fate. I see it every month a bit more of their loss is shown to the public, and I don't feel that the makers of our laws are doing enough to assist our indigenous tribes.
What is going on in Paradise? I don't know but you have just informed me that something is wrong, very wrong there.
The first immigrants to Canada were the French, these days the descendants of these people populate the east side of Canada. One of our provinces is "Quebec" it is an aboriginal word from the "Cree" meaning "where the great waters narrow" that is the St. Lawrence River. The whole province has taken that name.
One of the problems we used to have here is a loss of some of our language culture. We still maintain an old French language. Recently in the last few decades the province has instilled laws ensuring our heritage of the French language.
Now I say this because you have spoken of the decline of your language? Perhaps if you and a force of friends could form a group of men and women to study your dilema, you can investigate how the people of the province of Quebec went about the protection of the language.
It is a history study to be sure. A study in a foreign country but still what we did in Quebec can probably be applied to Hawaii.
I'm not saying that this will cure what ails your state...but it is a start to rejuvenate the state of Hawaii.
It is not only Quebec my friend, but lands all over the globe have had your problems, and they have solved them. If you can make one Canadian aware of your states poor state via the internet? Then for sure; in the internet you can find answers from recorded history.
Form an organization of peaceful democracy, and start to learn how to change things around for yourselves. Then apply what you have learned.
It is said that knowledge is power, it isn't; applied knowledge is power.
Does this help?
If it does........go get em!
