The amount of blood in an adult human is about 1/11 of their body weight. If the average man weighs 70 kgs this is about 5 litres which is just under 9 pints.

Well, they say between 8-12.
I lost and received 11 pints of whole blood after a near-fatal auto accident, so I guess I'm now a person with just-about all new blood :)
It does differ a little with height etc.
Is this a test question? In that case, I would refer to Wikipedia. I've found the most expert research data there...
