If he asked her out and she likes him then she would be a fool to say no!
Who cares if the folks give her a bit of a ribbing!!
If they are both prepared for their parents to tease them a bit then they have time to work out the perfect comebacks.

She may be giving up the chance to have a good relationship with someone she has known for a long time.

Tell her to go for it... and not to worry about a bit of teasing!

Your friend shouln't say no just because of the way her parents may see things or the fact that they've known each other for so long.

This guy might actually be the one for her and she is not going to say Yes just because of these so ridiculous reason?

Talk some sense into her. She should grab the chance and give it a try.

Quite the opposite actually. If they're both mature enough for a valuable and serious relationship, they should feel pretty comfortable with each other. I think your friend has some fears of denial on this one, either past experiences or because she values her friendship with this guy so much that she's afraid of changing it - again because of past experiences. You should dig deeper and find out the real issue.
