Why is it they support using the Bible to support gov't action against gay marriage, the right to die, freedom of choice, and porn (and in the past women's rights and abolition of slavery), but won't use it to fight poverty or promote peace?
Jesus was always telling people to help the poor and even said it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to go to heaven. He also said to love your enemies, turn the other cheek, and fight evil with good. Instead I see christian conservatives in the media support torture and pre-emptive wars.

Christians try to fight poverty on their own. Where I live, all the charities have some connection to a local church. Gay marriage is a legal issue where the Christians have no real power without the government.
In terms of peace, I have always thought it ironic that Christians are the ones primarily making up the members of the military and ready to go to war so quickly, despite "Thall shall not kill".

These people are wrong. The bible is the only true source. Those you see are not following the bible. They deceive many. We must study the bible and follow it no matter what others do.
