Not sure that's the point of the story.
God created both man & woman, then declared them good.
When man was alone, God created woman as a "help mate", (to make man complete)
God created BOTH man & woman in his image
Or did I misunderstand, is this a variation of the chicken/egg which came first question?

Because the loneliness of man needing a mate is why women were created. God said "these guys can't make it on their own, obviously!"
