Two friends went to buy a chicken. They took 25 rupees each for that, so a total of 50 rupees. They went to the shop and bought a chicken which was 45 rupees. They gave the shopkeeper 50 rupees and he gave them back the balance 5 rupees. Then they gave the shopkeeper 2 rupees to clean the chicken up ( it is like this in this part of the globe). The remaining 3 rupees they split two ways. So one man's share becomes 25 - 1.50 = 23.50. So the total between the two of them becomes 47. This plus the 2 rupees given to the shop owner makes the grand total 47+2=49. So where is the remaining one rupee?

Hey I am not much foolish both of them had given 25.so it became 50 .the shopkeeper gave them 5 rupees back. then they gave 2 rupees for cleaning. remaining 3 rupees. now split it.25-1.50(but you have unnecessarily totaling 2 there) = 23.50 each have.now 23.50+23.50=47. At last it is clear.

Some thing wrong in ur calculation.
Two persons having 25 Rs each
They buy chicken for 45
Then each one spend = 45/2
= 22.5
Then the gave 2 Rs for cleaning.
Then each spend= 2/2
= 1
Then they got back a balance of Rs 3
Then they divided among themselves by giving each 1.50 Rs.
When we add each one's money value = 22.50+1+1.50
= Rs 25
So,
25+25= 50
that one rupee got lost while that man was calculating.
Any way I dont understand where did he make the mistake.

each person share is 23.50 so total is 47 and the remaining 3 rupees is shared as 1.50 so total 47+2(1.50)=50 this 23.50 share is including the 2 rupees given for cleaning so no need to add it again now each person spent 23.5 and having 1.50 with them so 2(23.50)+2(1.50)=50.

the equation must be

contribution of each for the chicken: 45 divided by 2= 22.5
cleaning expense: 2 divided by 2= 1
the remaining: 3 divided by 2= 1.5

then add: 22.5+1+1.5=25 each
then multiply it by 2 to have the total money= 25 times 2= 50

It should be 22.50 (for the 45 they gave to the guy) + 1.50 = 24, 24x2 = 28 + 2

because you can't subtract the 3 and add 2 or i don't know

this is the wrong way you are taking the figures.
it should be...
45(chicken) + 2(cleaning) = 47
and the reamining is 3.

Cost of Chicken: Rs. 45
Cleaning: Rs. 2
Total: Rs. 47
Share of each: Rs. 23.50
Each gives Rs. 25 and then gets back Rs. 1.5
so, share of each is Rs. 25-Rs. 1.5 = Rs. 23.5

Where is the Re. 1, you say missing?
