I've started to drink straight whiskey on the rocks with a little water, and this has become my prefered drink. I usually drink Canadian Club which is good. But what is a really great, top shelf whiskey?

You may have answered your own question as you've already found something you like, but you might want to explore Jack Daniels' Old No. 7 as this Tennessee product has a well-deserved reputation of tasting good straight up (no ice or water), on the rocks or with a little added water or water back. For a less whiskey taste, JD and Coke is a tavern favorite. Jim Beam's Kentucky Straight Bourbon is also an old friend and may be taken easily. Personal favorite of mine, and Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you, friend is Bushmill's Irish Whiskey which I drink straight up with no rocks, no water because the flavor really is very smooth. Not inclined at all to dilute Bushmill's, although a shot in coffee is how the Irish drink their caffeine, but don't add the cream and sugar, as it really detracts from good taste. Slainte!

For top shelf stuff look into Maker's Mark, Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Crown Royal Special Reserve, Johnnie Walker Green and Blue labels, Glenfiddich, Bushmill's

For stuff that's more affordable but still very good look into Jack Daniels Old #7, Crown Royal, Johnnie Walker Black, Wild Turkey

Makers Mark is really good either way, on the rocks or with a mixer.

Seems to be Jack Daniels. Seems pretty popular. But then, that might not mean anything. Sorry. I guess what I mean to say is ---I don't know.

Glennfiddich single malt. CC is good stuff, it is all poison, some poison goes down better, that is an indavidual thing.
