Over the past several months I’ve been feeling depressed almost chronically. It hasn’t mattered if things go well I’ve just felt completely down. Recently I have been so depressed I can’t even think straight and I’m completely unmotivated to even live. I feel like a worthless loser and when I think of reasons to live the list is short.
I can’t see a doctor; I am a pilot and I’m far to afraid of losing my medical certificate to see one. If I lost that I would have nothing to live for anyways.
I feel this is getting really serious and need to fix this soon. I am making simple and dangerous mistakes in my career, things that I used to be instinctively capable of seem nearly overwhelming.
Today I was drove my car at 140 – 190km/h down an ice covered, winding mountain road. I nearly lost control twice.
Yesterday I climbed a cell phone tower and was going to jump but just couldn’t do it.
I just see no reason to go on and I’m very afraid my future.

I really need some good advice.

First try not to kill yourself...
This is serious.. Maybe you should hold on a bit, and try not to think that you r the only one who has terrible troubles... Others just doesn t show it..!
Try to relax, and think bout nice things.. Try to run early in the moun, or start going to jim, or start swimming...

Wait for few months, and without thinking of it, you ll get much more reasons to live!!!! Trust me!! Try it on!

see an professional, you have let it go long enough. Yes you may lose being a piolet for a while, but the way you are telling it, you have put those peoples life in danger anyway, so what the heck. Most of the time they will let polits back after a leave for something like this. They would reither have you grounded for a while, then have you really depressed, when you really make a terriable mistake, and a lot of people lose their lifes cause of it. I would go and see a doctor right away about it, and get an intake sit up, so you can start some therapy, so that you can get back on with your normal life, and the job you love so well. Look you are even thinking of jumping, driving to fast on ice roads, well one of these times you may get what you are hoping for, but you may not be the only one that gets hurt, so i would really strongly suggest that you go and get some professional help, and do it now, you really should of did it when this was first starting, would of been easier to take care of then. So please for your sake and that of others, get that help, and since it is the weekend if you feel like you may want to jump or drive yourself off an icey road, well call your local crisis line, or go to an er and tell them how you are feeling, but please get help, an get it really soon. And cause some of these people are studying different disorders do not mean they know it all, to live through it is more then a book can ever tell them, and quit often they learn that everything is not by the damn books.

I too suffer from Major Depression, and also,Personality Disorder,C.O.D., and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I've tried to kill myself more than I can count on one hand. The thing that helped me the most was my anti depressants and talking to doctors. You are allowed to talk to doctors without losing your job and there is a new law [or something] that states, you can not fire a person because of a mental illness such as depression.
But the big thing that I feel has me very much out of my depressed state, is after my 18 yr old neighbour cried out for help and was ignored and she hung herself and is now gone.
That alone snapped me out of it and I told myself that my life was and is not that bad.
Please do not do anything to hurt yourself, there is help and I'm listening to you. You are loved and you are here for a reason. Please stay.

you got to make sure if going to a doctors makes you lose your job or not, but if yes you got to be close to somebody you love but you may be in depression because you have nobody loved in your life. being hugged and held will show you reasons again to live and that there are still good feelings to want them. Depression makes you lose concentration and memory, you gotta reach help before you lose the last thing you are living for. there are alot of herbal medicines that fight depression and you don't need a perscribton for them that you can as at the pharmacy.

If you really feel this bad why would you worry about losing your medical certificate. You must get help, your behavior is dangerous to yourself and others. See a doctor as soon as possible.

First of all, you need help. Go to a doctor ASAP. Go to http://www.nami.org and read up on what is available in your area as far as free services as well.

You said you are a pilot, and you are afraid of losing your job? You cannot get fired over a medical condition, and if they were to do it, you could always get a lawyer and sue them.
