In that sense it is that everything around us, including ourselves, is energy, light, consciousness, creative power, the Creator. There is really no difference between an ant and a holy man, a stone or a fruit. The underlying principle is the same.
But this energy manifests itself in many forms and, seen by the ordinary eye, these forms differ.
If a person who has attained God consciousness would step in front of a truck, the truck would just pass through him because he really knows that the truck is maya.
For the rest of us, a truck is still a truck ... although we may know in theory that it is maya.

In the deep sleep state, are you aware of yourself, your body, the world outside? yes or no. If yes you are not in deep sleep state. If no, you are In that pure or absolute non identification state. It is a blissful state. this is our own absolute nature.
When world is talked about as unreal - it is with respect to the pure absolute state. Even these questions about whether the world is unreal or not ceases to be in that pure state.
MAYA - " that which is not". only with respect to absolute truth.
In walking state, we are lost in this world outside running from pillar to post after mundane things, and we are suffering and we are miserable. Unfortunately we are looking for solutions in the world outside. We are blissfully ignorant of our absolute nature and suffering for no reason and this is Maya.
In ignorance, we talk about world as unreal, maya jagat and mithya jagat and ...
But all these - world as unreal, about MAYA, the sciriptures and Sat Guru talk only to lead a sincere seeker to ones own absolute, blissful nature.
Once the seeker has shed his ignorance by the grace of Sat guru the MAYA will become MAYA (ceases to be).
Really, realized person will not talk this language. He will be just reveling and enjoying the blissful nature.

I liken Maya to being immersed in a movie or video game (particularly on a big screen) or virtual reality. That's what Maya is: virtual reality.These are activities you get so immersed in that you forget who you are. You could actually equate Maya with virtual reality. The whole of existence is a big illusion. Almost all of us are ignorant of our true nature and self and reality.
What is involved in having a super movie or video game experience? It involves feeding the right set of signals to our sense organs. Likewise, our whole erroneous perception of reality is based on our complete reliance on information provided by our sense organs. To penetrate this illusory veil, we have to withdraw completely from our senses and our perception of this physical world.

The world is delusive (Maya) - keeps us from seeing our true selves, by keeping us distracted.

this is the same question dev guru narada once asked lord vishnu
dev guru was confused ....he wanted to know what is maya nad why are people who obsessed with it
to this lord vishnu sent him to earth to understand maya
but while in earth he himself forgot his question.......
he got a house, he worked, got married and had children
......he was so happy with this worldly comforts...
but one day there was a great disaster in the village...the whole village was flooded......
his house first washed away and he cried...oh!good lord why is htis happening to me
But he thought my wife and children are still safe so he hold them tight
the next was his swife's turn......she washed away.....he cried again.....oh!!my lord my dearly wife she is gone... how i love her as how she loved me
last were his children but he now became more possesive for them.....
he hold them as tight he could but they too vanished........
now he could not control himself.. and cried and cried i lost eberthing i lost everyhing
with these words lord vishnu appeared and said!!" wake up narada!!
what did you lose??

your children ?
your house ?
and your money?
you were never married or never had any children.......look there is no village or no flood here.....here is nothing
you didnt lose anything
