Well actually i can not convince you to do something you do not want to do or are afraid to do , you have to do that for yourself. If you have a fear of flying , well one of the best ways to get over it , is to fly. I know i love it, my mother will not fly, and i really do not know about the others in the family, but i love flying, and i enjoy having the window seat, so i can take pictures out of the window of rainbows, and things like that. So it is going to have to be your choose to decide to get on that plane and fly, it sounds like you really do not like to travel in any way if you are not at the control. So i wish you all the luck in making this decision cause it is for you to make, not me.

I flew for the first time last year and, like you, I was a nervous wreck! Had a horrible fear of crashing and, like you, I realized it was because I feared not being in control! (I'm a Scorpio - go figure!) Anyway, I flew jetblue to Orlando, FL and it was fantastic! Almost addicting! The take offs and landings are the most exciting because they release endorphins in your body - a natural high! What I did was take chick lit (The Devil Wears Prada) and read it from the time I got on the plane until after we took off. And all I ate was water and crackers so my stomach wouldn't get woozy. All I could feel was the acceleration and it was great! The actual flight wasn't very bumpy (turbulence) but that was the only thing that made me nervous. Once I saw that the flight attendants weren't nervous, my nerves subsided. The landing was probably more exciting than take off because not only do you feel the intense deceleration but you feel the relief of making it through the flight safely! It was WONDERFUL! I haven't been on a plane since but I can't wait to do it again! Don't deprive yourself of this experience! I am a believer in the theory that you can't say you don't like something unless you try it once so do it! Considering that your chances of getting into a car crash are better than a plane accident you don't have much to lose! Plus, if you don't like it, you will never have to do it again! But I can be certain that, if someone like me - a control freak who is afraid of heights - loves it you will too! Have A GREAT Flight!

My dad, my grandpa and my uncle were all pilots. When i was little i used to get scared every time my dad would leave on a plane and he always explained to me that you are so much safer in the air then you are in your car and that you have a greater chance of being in an accident in your car on the way to the airport then you do in the airplane itself. That really didn't make me feel that much better but once he took me in his private plane, it was awesome. There is no view like the view from up above. Another thing to keep in mind when you think about flying and you get scared of crashing, always keep in mind that the pilot wants to make it home safe just as much as you do. I was scared to fly for a very long time but then once actually went through with it, it became my favorite thing. I love the view, looking right through the clouds, or even down on them... we see the world every day from the ground... you get an entirely different perspective from above. Your fear is most likely the fear of letting go of control but once you take off and you accept that you are not in control, you can just enjoy it and see everything for the first time. Enjoy it. taking off and landing can give you a wonderful rush... especially if you like roller coasters. You will love it, dont let your fears get in the way of something that you really want to do, you will be so happy to be able to get past your fears...you'll probably gain a sense of control by getting over the fear. Good Luck.

Flew for the first time when I was 17. I was a little apprehensive, but I joined the military and I'm on planes alot now. I like flying, but I hate the airports
Planes are THE SAFEST WAY TO TRAVEL. They have a lower accident rate than ANY OTHER METHOD. If you get in a car, ride a horse, travel by boat or train, you are taking a much bigger risk than flying.
Don't pass up this opportunity to conquer your fear and have a great time as well!

Think back to the news and how few times you ever hear about small planes going down. If it's a big enough deal to make national news for days, then it's a pretty uncommon thing. The first time will be the hardest as far as your nerves go. Just try not to think about any bad stuff as you're getting on. You'll be fine. Especially with small planes, as someone else said, they do safety checks EVERY TIME they fly. If it's someone's personal plane, they're gonna maintain it and take good care of it. Relax and enjoy the ride! Good luck!

Your desire has to be stronger then your fear.
You could be killed quicker in car accidents. There are more reckless drivers then there are pilots, pilots do not do any crazy things in the air unless they are a stunt pilot.
Be bold, courageous and it is exciting!! I have never flew in a small plane but I have flown several times in a large one. However I went for a helicopter ride once and that was something as the first thing the pilot did as he came off the ground he went up backwards, not ahead or straight up. Also I could see the ground just below me, whereas in a small plane you have to come off the ground going ahead. It was exciting and I am glad that I went for that ride.
My grandmother went for a ride in a small plane for the first time when she was in her seventies and enjoyed it, but preferred to have her feet on the ground she said.
Hope this wil help you, you can always pray for safety ask God to send an angel to protect the plane.

Well I did also but before I flew I researched and found that more people were killed in car accidents than plane crashes, take something for motion sickness an hour before you fly they will also calm you down a little Dramamine is good. Private planes are usually better maintained anyway with no chances or terrorists getting on board so you will be perfectly fine.

Really it's not that bad. My first flying experience was this past December over Christmas. It was my first time on a plane as well and the only advice people gave to me was to get a window seat. Looking out over the city as we took off and landed was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It really helps. It took my mind off everything and before you know it the flight is over.

Your plane is almost actual unlikely to crash. it rather is that "what if" concern that drives your phobia. the reality is which you're plenty safer (many cases over) flying in a plane than driving in a motor vehicle. there are hundreds of flights that are interior the air at any 2nd in time. each and every so usually there are crashes; yet those are few and extremely a techniques between. i've got traveled appreciably and function by no ability felt in possibility of dropping my existence. you will possibly be able to desire to stand your fears and attempt flying. probability is, you will understand that there's no longer something to concern and could open up a clean financial ruin on your existence. you will no longer be able to try this nevertheless while you're afraid to take that first step. stable success and chuffed traveling. I actual believe in you.
