Aren't you the type of people who believe we're not responsible for what our ancestors did? Reparations anyone? How can you believe the human race must pay for what our supposed Adam and Eve ancestors did but not what your ancestors did to slaves?

For the record, I don't believe today's generation is responsible for either.

Christian cons is short for christian conservatives. I referred to christian conservatives, because their base is the conservative South, and most white people from down there just plain don't believe in reparations for slavery. Liberal christians on the other hand, are always looking to help people and are therefore more likely, to support reparations. That is why I addressed the question to christian conservatives.

You believe the human race needs to pay for the original sin, but you don't need to pay for what your ancestors did to slaves? I'm generalizing here, but can you explain that logic?

Gee, I always thought the whole sins of the father are curses on the children for seven generations was unfair.
Then I started looking at children of alcoholics. Fetal alcohol syndrome, more likely to have a problem with booze, (hey, it's "normal")

The simplified, condensed answer: Consider, God is perfect. Through Adam & Eve, sin entered our world, therefore mankind was no longer perfect God can't have relations with imperfect people, or else he would no longer be perfect. .

Quite a knotty problem, wouldn't you say?

How do you think he chose to solve it???

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God they separated themselves from God. Unfortunately that also meant that their decedents would be have to be raised separated from God but with the option to chose to follow Him. It's not unlike the consequences that happen to children because their parents make bad choices. Until the children reach an age where they can make their own choices they will be effected by the choices of their parents. For example, the spouse that chooses to have an extramarital affair that destroys a marriage results in consequence, both physical and financial for the children.

It's the same for the consequences of ancestors who were involved in slavery. Although we are not responsible for the decisions made by our ancestors, the consequences of those decisions will be felt for many generations.

Overcoming those consequences requires the decision to not be a victim any more. That is also a choice that has consequences, although much more positive ones.

Gracious, I was debating whether or not to answer this question since you so lovingly addressed it to us "Christian cons" of which I am not, but anyway, I suppose I will answer with do you really think that you haven't committed any sins in your life?

It is a moot discussion for you. You are not interested in the explanation, only in trying to debunk others beliefs. Let it go until you are ready to hear.
