When it's your first date don't get him anything but you, yourself and a HOT outfit. I'm gonna go out on my first date with this guy i've likes for ages and i'm not going to get him anything yet. Just bring yourself along and a good conversation and mabey next date get him a little something.

It is customary for the gentleman to bring flowers or some small gift, but as a women your company is the gift.

it's a nice idea, and you should do it if that's your true desire.
personally, I would stick with taking some photos of you and your date together.
unless he has old-fashioned manners, a little gift is going to seem either too formal or too clingy.
