I got an uncle who was a cop for 30 years so I asked him apparently when you fill out 2 complete ticket books you get a choice of either an all expense paid trip to the bathroom or another ticket book to fill out tickets in but apparently some of the guys like my uncle were really slick and able to get both and no one caught on to their scheme.

Not here in Ohio....
but my husband said if he isn't writing tickets it looks like they aren't doing their jobs. There is no quota, and as the one who does all the bills around here I can assure you he doesnt get extra pay or "bonuses" despite what other think.
Imagine for a sec if you were a cop that never wrote tickets... your boss would think you were parking and sleeping somewhere or playing on the computer all night.

No, and there's no such thing as a "ticket quota" saying they need to write a specific amount of tickets every month. However, when you are in a meeting with your shift and one member of the shift has written 40 tickets and you wrote 8, naturally, it is not going to look as good on you as it does for the person who wrote the 40.
Officers also all have union contracts-there are no incentives based off of performance-its their job to meet specific requirements and perform certain duties.

My court day was on my day off for a few years, it was like my extra job to show up and get paid double time. So in a way, yes. I wrote tons of tickets during that time. Once it was changed to my duty time to save money in the budget I slowed way down.

No! They just enjoy the work. Hey! If your not doing something stupid, you won't get tickets.
