I have found similar questions on this, but my situation might be slightly different and I didn't really find the answer I was looking for. I'm going on my 3rd week of my period, it's ridiculous! I'm starting to get really concerned but my mom is scheduling me a doctor's appointment. My period is never regular anyway, but usually it's REALLY light and I have it like once every 3 months maybe. I asked my doctor about this in the past and she said it was pretty normal to have an irregular period since i'm only 15, don't weigh that much and I excersize often. But 3 weeks! And it's SO HEAVY (for me atleast)! Other than it being really heavy and long, and and being scared to death of bleeding through my tampon AND liner in a matter of 2 hours (too much info? sorry--I've had too many close calls with the world seeing I'm on my period) I'm perfectly fine. FYI-Definitely not pregnant (virgin)! The only answers I found dealt with anemia? Then what?

I started my period when I was almost 14. I'm currently 15 and a half, if that helps!

Oh sweety, I SO know how you feel. I am 23, so a little bit older and I have the oddest periods. I will got 3 or 4 months without having one and then when I do get one, it will last about 3 weeks, which sucks. And I will do the same thing, it will take me less than 2 hours to comepletely soak a tampon and I will do this for about a week or more. I get scared to death too, I swear that I am going to bleed to death. The only thing my doctor has told me, is it must be normal to me, since I have one this ever since i started. I was normal when I was on birth control, but off now, hubby and I trying to have a baby- not sure how with such an odd period. But yes, I would go to the doctor, especially if you are recent to having your period. Good luck, sorry I had no advice, just telling you that you aren't alone.

Could be a hormone imbalance going on but I have to ask. How old were you when you started your period? If it was 11 or 12 your periods should have regulated by now.

I would recommend waiting to see what the dr thinks about this bleeding (which is actually breakthrough bleeding, which means that it is bleeding that goes on at times other than the actual period).

Breakthrough bleeding can also be a sign of some types of infections such as to the cervix.

The dr will be able to give you more info about what's going on.

Then what?

Fibroid tumor maybe. There could be other reasons. I'm not a doctor, but look over the following site with your mom:

Sorry this is happening to you, but it's going to be alright. It might not be anything at all. Hormones are so annoying.

Take care of yourself.
