can a guy be a jerk without hurting anyone? How does a guy become a jerk, anyway? Can you ladies please define it for me (I can be kind of dense, I guess)?

A jerk is being selfish and insensitive. You must have hurt someone for them to call you a jerk, even if it wasn't on purpose.
