It seems to me that when you're on the expressway, you can go as fast as you want to... as long as you dont get caught speeding. I was on my way to work tonight and i was going 70 mph. and all the other cars were passing me and blowing their horns at me but the speed limit sign says 60 mph. Go figure...

Mr. Bostonianinmo, I always go the speed limit because i give myself enough time to get to where i'm going without driving like a bat out of hell. The reason why i was going so fast this time is because the other motorist were on my bumper blowing the horn, it was not my choice to go that fast, i was just trying to get out of their way. Maybe i should had explain that before i finished the question... thats my bad!

Haven't you heard? They're either suggested speeds or roadside eye charts! LOL
Seriously, I go the speed limit. I don't pass anyone unless there's no one coming up behind me in the passing lane.
No matter how fast you go, there's always someone wanting to go faster.

I agree; on any particular road there's a "posted" speed limit, and the "real" speed limit that people feel they can drive at safely and without risking a ticket. On your typical 55mph road most people feel they're obeying the spirit of the law if they don't break 65; and most people treat the lower expressway speed limits in metro zones as a suggestion, not a rule.
Personally I think having a law that no one takes seriously is worse than having no law at all.
Check out this video of a group of people who decided to drive the speed limit around Atlanta:

You must be in California, land of douchebags and fake knockers, where people all live in their own little bubble and how DARE you interfere with them!
Speed limits, like ALL laws, are made for the Lowest Common Denominators of society. Remember when you could chew gum in school until one moron stuck it under the desk? Then chewing gum in class wasn't allowed anymore. Not because you couldn't handle it, but because the LCD in class ruined it for everyone.
There's nothing wrong with speeding, but it's always the drunks, the inattentive, the cellphone users, those that can't drive anyway, and people scared of the weather that make the speed limits what they are.
I regularly and comfortably cruise along at triple-digits when traffic allows, and I pay strict attention to what I'm doing at all times.

Go figure is right, you must live in California?? I do, and this is how it is in Southern California. the speed limit is 60 MPH and I drive 70-75 MPH and people on the freeway flash there lights at me or even honk!! And I don't even drive on the far left to make matter worse!! Unbelievable! Your not the only one that feels the same way! :)

I know what you mean. I hate to see the ones that do 60-70 in the 40 school zones. School zones are annoying but only take 60 seconds to drive through. I would love to see these ones get booked. They have no respect for human life.

40 mph school zone? Here in Tennessee school zones are 20.
Speed limits were made to be broken. This is also why Nashville has been dubbed as Smashville.

Just go the speed limit. If they don't like it to bad. They will get there's someday. Keeping up with the law breaking idiots is just inviting you to get the tickets they deserve.
