I doubt that that girl, or any child under 14, usually looses their virginity by choice. Furthmore, since this girl was from Peru she comes from a very different sort of culture than that of the Western world. Women in third world and Eastern countries tend to get married very young, and often bare children at much younger ages than our society deems is acceptable. However, even in the developing world a girl of five would not typically be married or sexually active, so if your anecdote is true, it is certainly not the norm.
As for girls loosing their virginity younger, it's really hard to measure something like that, even in the US. Prior to the 1950s, no such quantitative data existed about many aspects of sexuality because it was deemed "dirty" or morally reprehensable to study such things. A doctor by the name of Alfred Kinsey began interviewing Americans during the 1940s in order to shed light on American sexual behavior. Even back then the average age of a woman's first sexual experience was in the teens, indicating that girls were engaging in premarital sex. Combine that with the fact that women were getting married a lot younger then than they do now, and you'll find that the average age hasn't gone up or down very much.
The spread of sexuality within the mainstream media can make it seem like children are sexually active at much younger ages, but this not necessarily true.

i think those who regret losing it so early are the ones who werent up to do date with contriception, so they either get pregnant or std's, otherwise id say its more becuse they regret who they done it with and the situation more then losing the virginity. but i dont regret it at all so im not 100% sure i lost myn to my x bf when i was 13, and were still friends and have gone out twice since then and im almost 20 hes stil the love of my life we just don't work as a couple:)

Um the Peruvian girl who was pregnant was an oddity, she was born in the early 20th century.
As for the whole virginity thing, I think that people should wait and if they knew what was out there that they could get they wouldn't do it.

Wow. That's disgusting about the Peruvian girl. Do girls have their periods that young?! Yikes. Yes, I do think girls seem to be losing their virginity sooner these days. I think it has to do with being the internet generation in which porn is glorified.

It's not always the reason girls want to be mothers earlier...becoming mothers is just a side effect of doing what they want. Alot of people don't cherish the specialness between husband and wife anymore...

Yes I think they are and I think that society is to blame too. Girls need to straighten up their emotions and think beyond the moment. It is cool whether or not you are or are not a virigin-the important thing is that it is your truly thought out choice (not something that you will regret later).

I think so because they are growing up physically, faster than ever. Also going through puberty at an earlier age than we used to.

No. Look into history a bit and the average age of marriage 100 years ago (in the U.S. anyway.)
