Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson have been predicting it would happen within their lifetimes since before color TVs. I know. I've seen them in BLACK AND WHITE spouting the same crap.
First off, the Jesus character warned about false prophets all preaching they know when the end will come. Second of all, even the Jesus character was wrong. He said it would happen within his generation. WRONG!
"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[d]is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation[e] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."

To the person who said not even Jesus knew...
The quotes I posted at once have him saying that his generation will not pass before the end of the world happens and that not even the "Son" will know when it comes.
Isn't he contradicting himself? First he says it will happen within his lifetime. Then he says not even the "Son" will know.
Could it be that Jesus was a real character with great liberal morals, but that he never said he was God or the son of God? Could it be that later characters twisted his story and made him a god to make him more appealing to the Romans?

Both of them are false 2 Peter 2:1-3 However, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among YOU. These very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves. 2 Furthermore, many will follow their acts of loose conduct, and on account of these the way of the truth will be spoken of abusively. 3 Also, with covetousness they will exploit YOU with counterfeit words. But as for them, the judgment from of old is not moving slowly, and the destruction of them is not slumbering.
but that doesn´t mean that we are not leaving in the end of the evil system
2 Peter 3:1-7
Beloved ones, this is now the second letter I am writing YOU, in which, as in my first one, I am arousing YOUR clear thinking faculties by way of a reminder, 2 that YOU should remember the sayings previously spoken by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through YOUR apostles. 3 For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”
5 For, according to their wish, this fact escapes their notice, that there were heavens from of old and an earth standing compactly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; 6 and by those [means] the world of that time suffered destruction when it was deluged with water. 7 But by the same word the heavens and the earth that are now are stored up for fire and are being reserved to the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly men.

This is not the End there is still time.
This is the end of the 6th Age, the last and final Age is the 7th Age, but it is a half time, 980 years.
From Abraham and Nathan to Jesus is 42 generations, or 6 Seasons of 280 years each, these are generation of sowing, and run fron 1680 BC to O AD, the birth of Jesus. From 0 AD to 280 AD is the Season of Rest, or Harvest, also know as the Tribulation, this was the 5th Age.
The 6th Age begin 0 AD and the 6 Seasons of sowing ran to 1680 AD, the 7th Season, the season of Rest or Harvest, also know as the Great Tribulation, was from 1680 to 1960 AD, this was the parable of the fig tree.
The 7th and final Age begin 1960 AD and is 980 years, what many refer to as the "Rapture" will happen in the year 2800 AD. The 7 "utterences by God, the Father, who is in heaven, will start in the year 2800 and one utterence will take place every 20 years until the last is spoken in the years 2940 AD
The last Prophecy of the 6th Age is that of the 7 kings and the 10 kings.
The 7 kings, 5 have fallen, 1 is and another is to come, and the beast that was he is the 8th, and is 1 of the 7. This is the Pope and the Vatican shall fall but the Anti-Christ the 8th shall sit in his chair.
The 10 kings that have no kindom, are 10 American Presidents starting with Persident Kennedy. The 10th President shall take office January, 2009, in he shall fall to Gog and Magog, at the same time the 7th Pope shall fall and give rise to the 8th.
The Name of the beast is Legion, and the were 666 demons within him. The mark of the beast is mammon, or money.
Money will be what everyone seeks after, it will be on their minds or in their hands, You can not serve God and Mammon.
Jesus said no man knoweth the day or hour, but he did not say YEAR.
These prophecies are not mine, they are that of Jesus Christ, He has revealed them to me, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled. It is now the time of the unbelievers.

Because Christian fundies are not informed as to the origins of their religion. People have been predicting the end of the world since ancient times. Zoroaster (Zarathushtra) was a religion in Iran/Persia around 1500 B.C.
Zoroaster’s followers expected a “second coming” in the virgin-born Saoshynt or Savior, who is to come in 2341 CE ushering in a golden age.
The Zarathushtra religion proclaimed that Ahura Mazda will send the Saoshyant [Savior], born of a virgin, and many other religions took on this belief.
Some say Christianity even has it's roots in Egypt with Osiris and Horus. Then there's the 346 striking analogies between Jesus and Krishna.
A fun website to check out is http://altreligion.about.com/library/graphics/bl_saviors.htm?once=true
where there are ancient pictures/statues of saviors. See if you can tell whether the art is of Jesus or another savior. There are 3 parts, also look at the Madonna gallery.
Or the God-men like Jesus website http://www.geocities.com/inquisitive79/godmen.html#zoro
http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/jesus_similar.html -- Lists the saviors along with their timelines in history
Or read Bible Myths and their Parallels in other Religions by T. W. Doane
A little research will certainly give you a lot to think about before you sell everything and wait the coming of Christ. Unless you can wait 334 years, that is.

Jesus did not say it would happen in the generation he was speaking directly to; he said it would happen in the generation that sees all these things come to pass. Why do you people keep twisting the words to suit your own agenda? Do you want to learn something, or just be right?! No one knows the DAY or the HOUR; but they that are in Him will know the SEASON. For when the fig tree begins to sprout leaves, you know summeris coming...so you will know when the season of His return will be! Israel became a nation, in 1948; that is the generation that will surley not pass away. 2000+ years andcounting, and we will live to see it. Believe it or be caught "sleeping" the choice is yours and it's totally in your face,so you cant say that no one ever told you. You read the word, and know what it says; maybe you'd learn something if you quit trying to make God wrong, to make yourself right...

The "end of the world" focused churches know that this means big $$$ to their coffers. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was not about "doom and gloom" but about the Kingdom of God and a hope for an assured future for all people ever, born. Although "end-time" prophecy is a part of the Gospel - it is NOT the Gospel. If Jesus Christ did not know "the day nor the hour" ... how much more does today's churches ? A lot of Christians will be left "high and dry" when things don't go off as anticipated. " An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign" - said Jesus to the religious leaders of His day. (see: Matthew, chapter 12, verse 39) - Good old prediction addiction !!!

because of the fact the tip situations are in the back of us, and that they do no longer understand that. The Bible says there is not any end to planet earth. See those: "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus for the duration of each and all ages, international with out end." - Ephesians 3:21 Ecclesiastes one million:4 "A technology is going and a technology comes, however the earth continues to be continuously." "He laid the guidelines of the earth, that it is going to no longer be got rid of for ever." - Psalm 104:5 the more suitable problem is that cosmic imagery is contained interior of Revelation, and persons do no longer comprehend the thank you to interpret this apocalyptic language which replaced into borrowed from old testomony language to describe the autumn of countries and powers. the tip situations are with regard to the final days of the old covenant device... no longer planet earth. it extremely is a covenantal end, no longer a cosmic end. as quickly as people understand this, there will be much less "final days insanity" and doomsday predictions.

This conservative fundie, as most others, would refuse to predict that kind of thing. Only the few that are not quite on track do that.
Robertson? Please, spare me! May God forgive him.
