Your shih tzu should be small enough to fit in a sink. I have a large dog so I have to use the bath tub.
At this time of the year my dog gets dirty every day with our daily walks in the field. When we get back home I march her to the tub and she jumps in. I take the hose with the shower head and hose off her legs, chest, tummy and tail. The water is black with mud. Then I have to clean the tub, arrgh! ; (
In the summer it is a lot easier, I take her swimming every day so she doesn't need very many baths unless she rolls in something. Life would be so dull without our lovely four legged companions. : )

I have 4 bathrooms, but it is just my husband and me in the house, so I decided to make one for the dogs. I decorated it, and set up everything in it with my dog in mind. My new puppy comes home in 2 weeks-I hope she likes it lol. In the bathroom there is a shower area and on the other side of the room there is a tub. If I shampoo her I do it in the tub, if I am just rinsing her off after she got a little muddy outside I use the shower. But I take her to the groomer every 3 months where she gets a hair cut and wash, too.

I bathe my dog in the bathtub and on a hot day? Outside in the yard with the hose and dog shampoo. She's 30 lbs.
A little shih tzu? Maybe in a baby bathtub placed in the bathroom tub.

I used to be able to bath my dog (puppy) in the kitchen sink until he out grew the sink in lenght!
He is over due for a bath though and I guess the next suitable place is the bath tub...oh what fun that is going to be for he hates WATER!

I suggest the bath tub, and that is what I use. I don't like bathign my dogs outside, because the water is never warm enough, even in hot weather, and the dog gets dirty again from being outside. Wet dogs are a magnet for dirt.

K when I owned a dog he was afraid of the tub so we would have to put him in the shower stall in the basement or turn on the sprinkler....but the best one was taking him for a walk and throwing the stick in the creek to get him wet then we would suds him up and throw the stick back in the water to rinse him. BUT that was on really hot days in the summer.

If it's cold outside, I give her a bath in the tub. In the summer it's outside in a large tub.

i bathe my rottweiler in the tub in the winter, and usually in the tub in the summer, but sometimes in the yard with the hose if it's really nice out.

I use a utility sink for my smaller dogs - it involves less bending over. Unfortunately my Lab no longer fits (it has a divider in the middle) so I bathe her in the bathtub.
