When you think about being hungry and thirsty in the physical sense, what comes to mind? Intense desire, obsession with getting what you know your body needs and is crying out for and the singular thought that when you get the nutrients that you need, you will be healthy and satisfied. The same applies to your spiritual life. If you hunger and thirst after righteousness, you won't stop until you have in your possession the thing that you crave. and God promises that when we seek him with our whole heart, he will be found by us. He wants us to want him. When we do, He promises that we won't be disappointed.

Blessed are they which do hunger -

Hunger and thirst, here, are expressive of strong desire. Nothing would better express the strong desire which we ought to feel to obtain righteousness than hunger and thirst. No needs are so keen, none so imperiously demand supply, as these. They occur daily, and when long continued, as in case of those shipwrecked, and doomed to wander months or years over burning sands, with scarcely any drink or food, nothing is more distressing. An ardent desire for anything is often represented in the Scriptures by hunger and thirst, Psa_42:1-2; Psa_63:1-2. A desire for the blessings of pardon and peace; a deep sense of sin, and want, and wretchedness, is also represented by thirsting, Isa_55:1-2.

They shall be filled -

They shall be satisfied as a hungry man is when supplied with food, or a thirsty man when supplied with drink. Those who are perishing for want of righteousness; those who feel that they are lost sinners and strongly desire to be holy, shall be thus satisfied. Never was there a desire to be holy which God was not willing to gratify, and the gospel of Christ has made provision to satisfy all who truly desire to be holy. See Isa_55:1-3; Isa_65:13; Joh_4:14; Joh_6:35; Joh_7:37-38; Psa_17:15.

If you hunger and thirst for right-ness, you will be filled- to want to live right, to want to do what is right, to want it as if you want food when you are hungry and water when you are thirsty; you will be filled -becuase Jesus says if we will drink of the well that He gives, we will never thirst again! Jesus spoke in parables; He spoke in stories; He is the quencher of our thirst and only He has the everlating water of life. He is the only way to eternal life, only by His blood (water) and flesh(bread) do we get to taste everlasting life. Only by accepting Him and rebuking our own fleshly (natural, sinful) wants can we experience this transformation. The Torah(God's law; the correct arrangementof all things) is all that is good and correct. It is the opposite of evil, and our human nature, (because of Adam and Eve eating of the tree of Knowledge; the knowledge of evil) our nature became that of the knowledge of evil; so we became seperated from God, (becasue God cannot be in the presence of evil) so; God has given us a way to reconnect with Him; He came down, as a man, and lived 33 1/2 years, never committing even one single sin(because the wages of sin is death) so that He could be a living sacrifice to cover us, from our sins( because we are unable to not do evil, as it is our nature) and thus give us a bridge back to Him! Because death could not keep Him, who was without sin! So God cheated death, on our belhalf. He died, so that we may live, and not only so that we could could live eternally with Him ,but so that we could have a relationship with Him ( because He loves loves LOVES us) while we are still human; so that He can guide us, (as a loving father would) and comfort us (as a loving protecter would) and bless us beyond our wildest imagination! If only we could obey Him, our lives will be so much better, so much fuller. All He asks is that we accept Him. He says He stands at the door of our heart, and knocks. All we have to do is open the door, and He will come in....He sends the Holy Spirit, which is Him; to dwell with us, and begins to teach us and comfort us. All we have to do is have the faith of a mustard seed, (very small amount of faith) He will take it from there! Easy Huh!

When you hunger and thirst for food, what do you do. You eat. If you hunger and thirst for rightoueness you try to fill your self with it. Rightous thoughts and actions. Now I think you are asking more what is rightous thoughts and actions. That I can not claim to be an expert on but I can say to me it is trying to live your life the way God wants you to. With as little sin as possible and admitting when you sin and asking forgiveness.

hunger and thirst = desire strongly

*********************************
A guru was asked how to find God. The man was persistant in asking while the guru walked on silent.
When they got to a river, the guru finally turned and instructed the man to kneel beside the water and peer in.
The guru then grabbed the back of the man's head and pushed his face underwater.
The pilgrim waited for a few moments then pushed up a bit to indicate he wanted to breath. The guru held him firmly. The man struggled to break free. When he did and was panting on ther bank, the guru said, "Once you want to find God as strongly as you wanted to breath, then you ..." (i forget the rest)
But you get the idea ... it is easier to do wrong than right

It means that if in your heart and mind you want to find His righteousness, He will fill your cup to overflowing. His goodness is so huge and we are so unworthy to receive all that He has to give. But if we are conscious of wrong doing in our lives and confess it to Him asking to be forgiven, He forgives and forgives. It is what your heart seeks after that keeps you on whatever track you're on in life. Whenever you seek to know God and by faith accept all the things He has for us to learn as we seek after Him, He is willing and able to give us so much more than we can ever imagine. Our God is truly awesome!
