You guys have been friends for a really long time, so you shouldnt mess up the friendship you have with him just because he keeps calling your darling. It could be that maybe he's just messing around with you and joking because he's that comfortable with you. I don't think you should take it seriously. If you think that he's a bi, try talking to him and asking him if he really is and try telling him how you feel uncomfortable when he keeps calling you darling. If he doesn't stop, try not to get freaked out. So what if he could be bi? Doesnt mean you can't be friends with him. And to answer your question, i think it is not normal for a guy to call another guy darling. But don't take it too seriously. Just try talking to him. You guys can still be friends.

I guess the real question is how do you really feel about your friend calling you "Darling" You mentioned that he's been calling you pet names for a while now...Have you spoken to him about this? It's really hard to describe what's normal now-a-days. with all the changes in society...seems like anything goes. You should really ask yourself if you feel comfortable being called "Darling" by another guy. If your friendship is really important and you would like to stay friends let him know that you don't feel comfortable being called "Darling" You should even go as far as questioning his sexuality. Find out if he is bi-sexual. Be open and frank with him....most people appreciate honesty. Good Luck.

I think he keeps calling you darling because he's trying to find out if your bi too. If you ever say it back to him then that would give him the"ok". If it bothers you that he calls you this then just kindly let him know. You can even come up with something else he can call you when you tell him. This way it won't seem as bad like your trying to be mean to him. You can say something in a jokeing way like "Hey man I prefer _________ rather than darling. It sounds cool." Not my exact words but you get the idea. This was kind of a hard one but I hope this helped. Good luck.

no, it's not right. guys don't call other guys darling unless you're gay. just remain friends with him but put a line between what is acceptable and what is not. while you respect his right as a person, you also have the right to take care of. if it gets worse, i think you have no recourse but to end the friendship. is he in love with you, by the way? why not talk to him first and tell him what you don't like? he might understand you.

He probably is bi, but at least you aren't being an *** about it and dropping him as a friend. Just make it clear that you like women and in no way have homosexual feelings and he should back off. What can you do if he does develop feelings? That is his fault, not yours. I really commend you though for sticking with him as a friend.

I would say it depends on where/how he grew up.. Society is what labels certain words as "gay terms." But yeah, a guy saying darling to another guy is weird. You should call him 'beautiful' and see his reaction *WINK*.
