We were instructed by my sons oncologist to always call if his temperature was 101.4 or higher. That would indicate an infection of some kind.
However, my son had a persistant low grade fever for 3-4 days of about 100.4 - 100.6. So, we called his oncologist. We were instructed to go to the local Emergency Room and have his blood cultured. The blood report came back that he had a pesky bacterial infection. It was a common bacteria found on the skin. The bacterial infection was identified as gram-positive cocci, Staphylococcus epidermidis . Staph epi is a common bacteria found on the skin of healthy individuals, but it can be a source of infection for people who have surgical sutures, cathetars, intravenous lines, or shunts. He wasn't that sick but still ended up in the hospital for two weeks on antibiotics. He finally had to have his central line replaced.
You should call your mothers oncologist just to let them know what is going on. They may want to see her to run a blood test.
Good luck.

See if it persists. Normal body temperature is 98.6 so 100.4 to 100.6 indicates a slight fever but not serious. Make sure she rests in a comfortably cool area away from drafts and has plenty of cool liquids to drink. If her temp crosses over the 101 mark notify her physician.

Call someone and ask. When you're on chemo, the normal limits are different. I was in the hospital for 8 days follwing a fever of 100.2, while on chemo. They may want to check her labs.
Best wishes

For a chemo patient (who is pretty much guaranteed to have a suppressed immune system), this is high enough to report to the clinic's on-call doc... call tonight...
Ed, RN (My Mom just finished chemo last week... Best of luck!!!)

That is not very high. She may be reacting to death of neoplastic cells. Check it regularly, give her plenty of fluids and call her doctor if it goes above 101 oral.

In a healthy person this is not good but isn't an emergency, since she has cancer it would best to call her doctor just in case.
