Love is a choice we make. It is an inherent and learned social behavior. Just like anything else, we need to exercise love if we don't want it to atrophy.
I saw something on love that I thought was very interesting in a documentary called What the Bleep!? Down the Rabbit Hole.. There was the study on the affects man's intentions on water. The Message from Water was a segment in the documentary that showed how certain intentions change the way a water crystal forms. The question posed was that we are mainly composed of water... "if thoughts can do that to water... imagine what we can do to ourselves."

love for me, is like your with your significant other and they have a story that they tell over and over and over, but...you love it every time its told, no matter how much, not matter how long. you just stare at them and smile beautifully, knowing every line in the story, every tone of voice, and yet your lips dont move to mockingly repeat it. you just listen.
