I heard that sun exposure actually makes freckles darker.

Yeah the sun makes them darker and that's called sun damage. I have a ton of freckles on the top of my back and shoulders from getting horrific sunburns and growing up in FL in the constantly blazing sun. They're hideous. It's one thing to have them naturaly and maybe even cute to see them across your nose when you get a tan but it's another to have sun damage that could lead to cancer.

Sun exposure will make them darker, yes, but that's a sign of damage, and you don't want that. Try a self-tanner maybe, if you don't mind the rest of your face darker.

Darker is more sun...obviously!
