It's awful that she smokes that much and she's only 13. I mean, I can't be sure of where she gets them. But she probably gets them from people off the streets, or from people in the neighborhood. There are all kinds of ways nowadays to buy drugs and cigarettes illegally. I hate when people smoke. I especially hate that me mom smokes, and I really really wish she'd quit. She started at 15, and eventually it'll catch up to her and she'll most likely get lung cancer. She smokes quite a lot in one day. I hate thinking about what could happen to her just because of those nasty things ):

Most stores can refuse the right to sell anything to anyone. Also if you physically threw the kids outside or touched them in any way as thery were leaving, then that would be battery. As for pressing charges on the parents, if you felt that you were going to be physically harmed or fear threatend about future events, then you have cause.

I would love to say I'm surprised by this but I'm really not. I'm still at school and many, many of girls I know are doing pretty shocking things that their parents are aware of and the parents just basically shrug it off and say it'll pass. What's with that??? I'm really glad you decided to be strong on this one. There is no way you can get fired over this. No one in their right mind would say you were unjust.

Rule no 1. - If you want to call the police don't ever tip off the suspect about the fact.
If you were 100% sure that they were the actors, you should have gotten a good description of them and their parents (IE. vehicle description, LP, ) and then call the police department and find out who was the investigator and then give all information to him.
It is always a bad idea to confront the suspect(s) your self.
It could get ugly.... like it just did.
Good luck

You needed to not "tell them you were calling the police" you needed to just call the police and have them arrested by a positive ID as the ones who stole from you.

Put a camera in first. Then a big sign out front that says 'Thugs not welcome and parents will be held responsible for thier mischief' and a big yellow happy face. You have now warned the animals to stay away and their enablers as well. When the beast screams falsely the Righteous scream louder.

Any biz has the right to refuse service or goods to anyone. So, you shouldn't have any trouble keeping your job. Second, forget about the parents and legal action unless it continues to be a problem. The sooner you put this past you, the better off you'll be

I would honestly hope you wouldn't get fired....isn't that what you are supposed to do when something like that happened?
As for the parents....I think i would just leave it alone, it's not like they were threatening to kill you.
