I was on the Depo shot for about two years. I stopped using it last Summer and now I am trying to get pregnant. This may seem like a too much information question, but I am just going to put it out there. I have unprotected sex nearly ever day with my fiance and every month my period keeps comming. How long will it take until I become pregnant? Am I doing something wrong? Help!

I was on the Depo shot for years and years. My GP told me (and kept telling me ) that Depo Provera is cleared from a woman's body, about 6 to 8 months after her last injection. After discontinuing Depo Provera, women may also have a 6 to 12 month delay in return of fertility." Don't stress about it tho. If you are having problems getting pregnant, go an and talk to your doctor about it.

Dr Greenfield says on her website:
Depo-Provera is a great contraceptive, but it does have a few drawbacks. While each injection is totally effective for three months, the effects can last much longer than that--sometimes continuing for eight months or more. Therefore, it can be hard to tell when your fertility will resume, and your periods may be absent or irregular until you start ovulating again. Usually, a woman will be cycling normally 12 months after her last shot.

Good Luck! (and get as much sleep as you can before your little bundle of joy comes into the world!)

you are not doing anythikng wrong, your body was to used to having the shot thats why it needs to adjust, if you recall the shot builds up in your uterus making a boundry therefore allowing nothing to enter, that is why you cannot fall pregnant, that boundry needs to slowly disintegrate, which could take a long time
