This is supposedly a sect that believes in the words written in the Bible that states if one has faith in the Lord, you can even handle a viper and if bitten, you would not die.

They pretty much have taken that piece of scripture out of context and made it into some kind of "church" doctrine that they believe. Mainline Christianity knows better, that's why this practice is not commonplace.

Mark 16
14Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Notice that the people who Jesus said would do this are "those who believe" not "you apostles", or only people for the next 50 years, it's there for all who believe.
Also, I don't think those people are Baptists, but I'm not sure. Speaking in tongues is a reality for a Spirit filled christian, however a lot of churches don't teach about the baptism with the Holy Spirit that Jesus, and John the Baptist talked about, and speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor.) where the Holy Spirit spekes through you mysteries unto God. It's all biblical. However, I don't think that I would handle poisonous snakes or drink poison to prove my faith. Paul said that all things were ok, but not all were profitable.

what are you a freaking moron or something. talking about something you have NO CLUE about. Why don't you just say I don't have a clue will you please help me.

It's not the Baptist (you freak) and I am not to sure what church in the hills is doing it but it come from the book of Acts when Paul was bitten by a serpent and was not harmed. God told him that he would make it to Rome and He stayed true to what he said. He (GOD) did not tell us to play with snakes He tells us that he has a plan for us and He will see us though

Mark 16:15-18 this is their reasoning. I can't stand snakes myself and I damn well wont drink poisoning. They are Pentecostal not Baptist. Baptists are just idiots like the one above me.
