Your doc should have given you a suppository instead of something you have to ingest. Antiemetics come in suppository form.....call him and get the drug changed to suppository. If you can't reach him just try to get along and take a sip or ice chip after a few hours. If that comes up, wait 2 more hours. Increase the amount little by little as soon as you're able to keep it down. You could try putting the medicine under your tongue and letting it dissolve there. Careful not to swallow the saliva it produces. You have mucous membranes under your tongue that can rapidly absorb medicine into your bloodstream bypassing your stomach. If you produce a lot of saliva with it then just spit the saliva out to avoid upsetting your stomach. You will still get some of the medicine into your bloodstream. I hope you feel better really soon!!

First, stay calm. Your body is already stressed enough with the flu. If water (ice chips) bothers your tummy, try something else, such as hot tea or ginger ale. Sip on it, only tiny amouns at a time. Use a humidifier and take a few showers throughout the day (moisture can be absorbed through the skin). Try to eat a cracker or a pretzel. Your stomach may just be rejecting fluids because it needs something more substantial. Start small, and stay away from dairy and acetic foods. Keep an eye on your body temperature, as this can help you decide whether you need to go to the ER for an IV.

Listen to the advice about the suppository. It may not sound appealing but it works like a charm. It is more appealing then what you're going through right now. In fact, you don't have to go to the doctor or the ER...let me tell you a better way. Call your doctors office, ask to speak to the on-call doctor for whoever your primary physician is. When they call you back, tell them your history, what is happening and that you can't keep your nausea pills down and you need a suppository. Have your pharmacy number ready and they should be able to call it in for you. Since it is Friday night this is a better choice. Then you can get in to see a doctor tomorrow in urgent care or on Monday. If you can't manage to find something to help you, you will need to see a doctor, somehow, asap.

oh Dear I feel so bad for you.I had that happen to me one time, and I have Ulcerative Colitis to boot and everything goes right through. Well I started feeling so rough that I could not stand it, and I also felt before I left the E.R. that they hadn't given me enough I.V. fluids. I unfortunatly ended right back in the E.R. Sure enough the Doctor that treated me was going through his patients too fast and the insurance found out about it and didn't pay the hospital diddly for the first visit, they investigated and said there was negligence on his part and I just paid for the one visit that helped me.Thank God, they were goin to charge me a $1000.00 Bucks but they changed their mind and paidon the one that helped me. If you can't even keep ice chips down then Darlin you are way too sick-See A Physician ASAP and hope you feel Better real soon!!P.S. If you can do the rectal meds that's great and ipray they will give it to you and it works-unfortunantly it didn't in my case, I have no luck in the world on anthing.

Why didn't the doctor give you the same suppository medicine in the form of a shot? Dehydration can kill.
Also, if you have a chewable Bonine, you might try just sucking on it for minute to get a little bit in your system so you can back to ice chips.

Sorry to hear about you illness. You may need to get back on the IV drip for hydration. There is anouther option other than a pill in the other end. Ask them for Phenergan to be administered directly into your IV drip. I use this all the time with long transport patients in an ambulance. It is the prefered, standard anti-nausia med of pre-hospital care and ER rooms in the US.

Contact your Doctor again. If you can't even cope with the moisture of Ice Chips, perhaps there's something else going on

If you cannot keep the medicine down for nausea go back to urgent care or ER and they will give you nausea medicine in suppository form.
