Some people say so, but pure logic speaks that hair feeds and grows from the roots...

Actually it does work. When you trim the ends, it limits split ends and nutrients can travel up to the roots. The healthier you keep your hair, the faster it will grow.

In some ways it can be a myth because you dont need to cut your hair for it to grow, it just helps it along.

This does not mean that you should cut your hair all the time, just trim it a little and condition the ends regularly.

If you want rapid hair growth there are homeopathic pills you can take for hair and nails BUT beware becuase it doesnt just make the hair on your head grow, its for all hair!- a lot of people dont realize this and end up shaving their legs a lot more often than usual.

Yup, you're right. Hair is fed (and grows) from the papilla, which is in the scalp, so cutting won't change it. Some people are convinced their hair only grows if they cut it, which is actually an optical allusion. You see, if they have hair in bad condition (or a serious health condition that slows the hair growth as a side effect) little of the ends of the hair will seem to be getting longer, so when they cut it, it looks fuller, and seems longer. It's not actually longer, but if you are trying to convince someone who believes it is, forget it!
There is one more factor in hair growth you should know about. Each individual hair has a pre-determined length it will grow to. Then it will stop no matter what we do. Most of us will cut our hair shorter than this length. But look at pictures of Chrystal Gale -her hair is longer than most of us can grow, even if we try. It's all in the DNA.

No cutting part of your lower hair doesn't affect the root were the hair grows. Cutting your hair just makes it look like your hair has grown fast since then.

trims won't increase hair growth, but it does keep you from having to cut more off in the long run. splits that start at the end could split all the way up the shaft damaging your hair more and therefore causing you to cut more off. that's why it's better to get trims more often

No, it has no effect on how long or how fast hair grows. Getting regular trims keeps it healthy and no matter how healthy it is every hair has a genetic life span, after growing to a particilar length it falls out, that length is different for everyone.

trimming your hair doesn't make it grow faster. what is does is prevent your hair from breaking upward and further than it has. imagine if the ends of your hair were split and you left them, eventually it will break upward, therefore people say "my hair doesn't grow." It does, its just that as the roots are growing the ends are being broken off so it appears as if it is not growing. so overall, no trimming your hair just prevents further breakage which may appear to make your hair stagnant.

It won't make it grown any faster but it will keep it healthy and allow it to grow longer over time. I have long hair and don't cut it enough. It would probably be longer if I didn't have all these split ends...

it keeps your hair healthy
so you don't get split ends
then that way when it grows your less likely to get longer hair.
because if you don't trim the hair split ends star splitting your hair and making their way in award direction causing you to have to cut more hair off.
I recommend trim at least 1/4 each month and you will love your hair!

I am not sure if that is true but trimming your hair frequently does give your hair the appearance of healthier locks of hair. (trims rid you of split ends and damaged hair.)
