I am scared to fly!!! My mom has never flown and growing up my dad didnt travel very much at all. I have never really been around it. Even the town i live in is so small that most ppl drive out of state to ride a plane. Although we do have a airport.
I just got a call from my sis. She wants me to go flying in some guys personal airplane tomarrow afternoon. This is a awsome oppertunity and I hate giving it up. I want to fly so badly but I have this overwhelming fear of crashing. I think really it's more of a fear of not being in control. I hate riding with another driver too. LOL. I need you to help convice me to go. So if u have an idea of how to help me get over this fear or if you have a great story about flying on a plane. Lets here it!!!

I never had a problem with flying, not even after 9/11. However, in 2002, I randomly started having frequent nightmares in which I would watch jets blow up or crash in mid-air, while I was on the ground. These dreams left me with such terror, that when I was elected to go across the country to a conference, I nearly passed up the opportunity.

I did a little googling (bet yahoo hates that term! lol), and came across a website that really, honestly helped me overcome my fears. Did it cure me 100%? No, of course not - I don't believe anything can. However, I have flown a handful of times since, and returned to enjoying the flights immensely!

I highly recommend this 'program', it's free and authored by an airline pilot - that fact alone reassures me. I hope it helps you, too! (And no, I'm not getting paid to plug this guy - I wish!!)

Good luck tomorrow! :)

Your plane is almost definitely not going to crash. It's that "what if" fear that drives your phobia. The reality is that you are much safer (many times over) flying in a plane than driving in a car. There are thousands of flights that are in the air at any moment in time. Every so often there are crashes; but these are few and very far between. I've traveled extensively and have never felt in danger of losing my life. You have to face your fears and try flying. Chances are, you'll realize that there is nothing to fear and will open up a new chapter in your life. You won't be able to do this though if you are afraid to take that first step. Good luck and happy traveling. I have faith in you.

My mother always told my if I couldn't say something good about something not to say anything at all well I can't not do that; I would not ride with anyone in a small plane. However I like to fly in the larger ones. That is until we hit a little turbulence and it scared the crap out of me if you really want to then just get in an go.

i am teriffied of hieghts. anything more than five feet off the ground and i get queezy. but when i fly... wow. there is nothing else like it. the low rumble of the engines as you taxi to the runway. kind of reminds me of a giant cat purring. and the sensation you get when you take off. like big, comfortable arms hugging you in your seat. and when you are finally airborn, no matter where you are, the view is absolutely breath taking. tiny, twinkling lights if you fly at night... vast stretches of patchwork quilt we call mother earth if you fly during the day. and a sunset flight!! OMG!! the reds and golds that shimmer up at you could only be the treasures of the gods.

i have only flown a total of 8 times, and each time was better than the last.

I am not a experte traveller but I can tell you that a plane is more safer than crossing your local street.
I am sure that after your first flight you will want to book another pretty quickly.
When sitting in the plane ready for take-off, think that this plane is the safest transport in the world.
Have fun.

Get on that plane! You are way safer in the air than on the ground in a car, statisticly speaking, and it IS a great oppourtunity. Don't be a wuss anymore, you'll enjoy it, I'm sure of it :)

I think your crazy if you do it. And I think your sis is too. Partly because it is just someone she just met, she don't even know the guy. And a small plane......... I really don't trust. Your aunt rode in one and she didn't like it. I wouldn't even try to convince you to do it. And it scares me to even think you guys are thinking about it!!!!!

You get to be above everyone else that's on the ground, so they all look so small. the view is the best you can find, anf for me personally, being in the clouds is one of the best feelings ever.... I just feel free.
