All a microwave does is throw high intensity radiation which heats water molecules, and in turn heats food. So, this act in itself is not bad for you. What is bad is the junk you can buy at the grocery store that's made for heating in the microwave. More often than not these are horrible for you. Simply heating leftovers isn't bad for you at all, and depending on the food you are heating, it may be good for you. Also, microwaves are pretty good at sterilizing food. Just be sure to take the spoon out before nuking...

Studies undertaken by Russian and Swiss scientists show that microwaved food has carcinogenic (cancer causing) properties and blood tests following consumption of microwaved food show irregularities.

Almost everyone has a microwave oven in the UK and we think they are harmless but they were banned in Russia in 1976 for the above reason.

Maybe it would be wise to keep our microwave use to a minimum.

Microwave cooking is very safe. Daft as it sounds. Your dish cloth is full of germs. By wetting it and putting in the microwave for 4 Min's it kills ALL the germs. Weired eh!!!

GP here, yes it is a misconception but an uncommon one, where did you pluck it from? Microwaves can be harmful to humans at high levels, but do nothing to make food unsafe to eat.

It's not the best way to heat your food, but it's not bad for you. microwaves brake down enzymes and kill nutrients. Also, never heat anything in plastic containers. The plastic heats up and leaches into the food which can cause cancer.

in the health/nutrition fields it is highly recommended that you do not microwave your food.
microwaving can have the negative effects of leaching chemicals from the container or cover into the food as well as reducing nutrient content.
its not gonna kill you but it could contribute to you not being as healthy as you could be.
