So here's the deal. I'm 20 and I look 14 in the face. What's worse is I'm a pretty smart guy who goes to school and works with people a fair bit older than me. I also act older. So here I feel like I'm 28 but to others I look 14. I want people to take me seriously, so this isn't good.

The other day a couple people pointed out to me that my haircut looks like a mop. It was just in jest but obviously they saw a grain of truth in that or else they wouldn't have said it. I figure if that is how people see my hair then it really isn't doing me any favors. I can't change my face, but I can my hair. So what I would like is some friendly advice on a new do. Some guidelines:

1)I'm used to paying in the single digits for haircuts-- I don't want to pay much more
2)I want something fairly conservative. That's me.
3)I have wavy, thick hair that's short because it gets wild from the bangs to the back when it grows out much. Half my bangs curl out now!
4)I'm low maintenance

Help please!

i would suggest a "faux hawk" you can have a little bit of an edgy style and when you are around the older crowd or at work it lays flat and looks exactly like a normal hairstyle (if you don't leave it up). go to your salon and they will know how to do it......if not..clipper the sides what ever length you want (perferably not higher than a four or 6) and just scissor the top. figure out how long you want the top and just angle it to the sides (45 degreeish) therefore leaving the middle longer and the sides shorter.....then all you have to do to style it is throw some gel in and spike it up a bit or leave it down! easy as pie!! Good luck!!

I dont know what you mean by moppy...
Well first of all, single digits? Ok, you need to go to a stylist- you can probably go to someplace for 25. Not just the barber.
You want a style change, not just a trim.

If your hair is "Wild" try some Frizz ease. Not so much cause it will look oily.
Curly hair, fairly long, looks nice. Not too short. Medium, just need to find the right product to keep the curls and loose the frizz.

My best advice:
Grow it out a little more, try some frizz ease
or Go to a stylist.

Remember: hairstyles have to match with face shapes!

Just cut it shorter...you can shave it, not completly but a 1 on the sides and 2 on top, but you would have to get frequent cuts.

you can even go to supercuts and ask the lady what she thinks.

Cut your own hair. Then you won't really have to pay a thing.
