I just saw a cartoon commercial for a diet product and I am totally appalled. The "wife" character was not in any way, proud, happy or supportive of her husband's significant weight loss. Does this actually portray women fairly?

I believe it was supposed to be a humorus portrayal of the frustration women sometimes feel when men are able to lose weight faster/easier. You should not take this commercial literally. It's true that usually men have quicker metabolisms and/or carry body fat in a different way --they were just pointing this out in an exaggerated way.

It is a bad ad isn't it. She is not suportive of her husband trying to eat better and as a result loosing weight.
But you just know that if the roles were reversed, she would call him an insensative jerk (PG version:)
