I have 3 cats-2 male and 1 female. I've had all 3 fixed as soon as they were old enough. The 2 males are brothers from the same litter. All 3 cats are approx. 3 years old and they're all indoor cats. Why do the 2 males still spray all over the place? Bedroom, living room, kitchen (on the toaster), just about anywhere. I'd hate to get rid of them, but this is really getting old. HELP!!

Some male cats will continue to mark even if they're neutured. Some possible reasons for inappropriate urination include a unrinary tract infection, the litter box needs to be cleaned more reguraly, and/or it could be a behavioral problem. I would start with the veterinarian and have your cats examined. If they have a urinary tract infection this can be treated with medication and food that is espicially for cats prone to urinary tract infections (male cats are espicially prone to urinary tract infections). Behavioral problems are a tad more difficult to treat BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Start by purchasing a product called Feliway . This is a small contraption that plugs into an outlet (resembles those airfresheners that stay in an outlet) and they contain feline (cat) pheramones. Only your cats can smell them and they provide a calming effect that helps with inappropriate urination. In severe cases of bevioral problems there is also medication that can be prescribed for your cats. If you can tolerate them a little more while you do some detective work and treatment that would be better than surrending them to a shelter or another home. Most shelters/animal control agencies will automatically euthanize (humanely put to sleep) cats that are urinating outside the litterbox. And people do horrible things to cats that have this problem. Start with a Veterinarian, if its medical, you will see results quickly. If its not medical he/she can point you in the next direction.

I'm sorry...I'm not going to be any help...I'm just going to sympathize with you. We had a male and female...they got along great. Then my hubby gets a female kitten...only to find out many months later it was a male. Explains the older male spraying everything. I finally had to get rid of the older one because I knew that if I got rid of the other, the older would still spray. It breaks my heart...especially since I don't even like the one I had to keep. (Daughter's cat). I put up with it for almost two years...it cost us new flooring, ruined military clothing...not to mention several things in the basement ruined. He even sprayed my baby stroller. I honestly would either kick them outside permently, or seperate them to new homes. Or find a farmer that needs them for mice. Sorry you're going to have to deal with this. Oh yeah...one last thought. I would make sure they don't have UTI's. That can be a reason too.

Fixing a cat does not necessarily mean that they will not spray. If you were told by the vet that it would fix the problem, then you got dupped. I hat that they are doing that. I got my 2 males fixed and thank God they don't spray anymore, but they might if they are provoked.
They used to spray in the stove. You can only imagine the smell when I cooked a meal. OMG!! horrible

All cats are capable of SPRAYING ......both Males , AND Females. And guess what .....neutering males does not have anything to do with their SPRAY GLAND .. It is a TERRITORIAL THING......Many times they do it if they sense other male cate outside your home .....especially at night, when you are asleep in your bed. Sometimes older males, who never ever sprayed at all will start spraying if they know that younger males are outside , again " INVADING THEIR TERRITORY". Try repelling outside cats if you can by buying ANTI CAT Spray at a pet store. You spray it outside and other cats hate it/ Oh yeah , they may be spraying because there is a rivalry going between them, each attempting to prove their dominance .

It could be that they are being territorial. That can happen with "family". that gets to be too many. Please, check and ask your vet first about some kind of product, or something that could help with this problem before you even think of getting rid of any of them. Take care.

I hate to tell you but you got ripped off; because a cat that has been fixed cannot spray. It appears that you have been charged for a service that you didn't recieve.
