All those that are telling you to drink more water, are correct, studies show that if the body is actually dehydrated it will hold onto as much of the fluid it can get in order to hyrdtrate itself over the course of a day.
The most common symptoms of fluid retention are puffiness of the fingers, feet, ankles, legs and abdomen. In some cases urine may be passed infrequently or in small quantities
It may also be helpful to lie with your legs elevated against a wall at the end of the day, or to raise the foot of your bed a few centimetres off the ground. This allows gravity to assist the circulation and fluid to flow back up the legs.
Try and drink plenty of water, best thing to do is use this formular: 0.03 x your body weight.. to give you how many ltrs a day you should drink. Remember to use the bathroom regulary you dont want to drown your brain/kidneys
there is a wonderful drink i make on a regular basis give it a try it is Delish!.

you should see your doctor. If you're retaining so much water that "it is hard to walk without loosing breath" then you are probably suffering from high blood pressure as well. It's easy to find out. Go to one of the chain drug stores and they have those automatic blood pressure gadgets and test your blood pressure.
I take a diuretic because of water retention and it helps lower my blood pressure significantly!!!
Then check your diet. You're retaining water for a reason. If you're overweight you store water, but if you eat a lot of salt (sodium) you'll retain water as well.
If you use an over the counter remedy without a blood test you can leach potassium out of your system and you can suffer serious side effects.
It's worth the visit to the doctor.
