Introduce the new birds in the dark, while they are sleeping, at night and you will have no trouble (do not wake the sleeping birds).

Hi im waine, Genral Poultryman at the largest poultryfarm in the county. unfourtanately, if you puy a batch of younger, newer hens in with a batch of older hens, you WILL have problems. When we change out layers every 2 years we have a process, first we remove all the old hens from their coop ( we have open floor coops, as we are a large breeder farm and do not sell eggs or meat comercialy) and then we place the new ones, about 7 months old, in the old hens coop. Then we leave this arrangement for about a month, and after about that ammount of time, we let both the old hens and the new hens out tho free range for a week. You normaly lose a couple of hens in this process, as the decide they dont like coop life. After about a week the hens will seem to get along, and will normaly go to roost together, then you can lock them up. Yes there will be some fighting at first, but hey its pecking order. I hoppe this will help you out.

Sincerely, Waine
-YRPF General poultryman

Cage them seperately, but next to each other. Slowly let them have supervised time together to work out the pecking order. Seperate them again if they start to fight.

Good luck!
