I was diagnosed with bipolar II, and it is severe enough that I have to do something. I was prescribed lithium carbonate, but I do not want to take it because I am nursing a very small baby. Does anyone have suggestions that have worked for them? So far my doctor has proved very unwilling to work with me and due to my exceedingly remote location there is no one else I can see. Your success stories or advice would be very much appreciated. : )

You will be passing the lithium on to your baby in your milk, if your doctor will not listen you need to find someone who will. Ask for a referral, you need to get this sorted out very quickly otherwise your baby could have problems.

You should not be talking Lithium while you are breastfeeding it will pass through to your baby..You need to travel and find a different doctor..You really should be bottle feeding if you are taking any medicine for bipolar disorder you are putting your baby at risk for a lot of serious health problems..

certain. i replaced into pumping breast milk for my son even as he replaced into in the well being center...he replaced into virtually 3 months early and on a feeding tube. I had to take stool softeners and they did not impact the milk in any respect. My well being care service gave me some on the well being center.
