If people were not sick, they would have no need for a physician, correct? Sin is indeed a "sickness", for the lack of a better word. And Jesus is the cure. So yes, we all need to get our "booster shots" weekly and restore our "health".

...I partially agree. Some trust in Christ in local churches.
...The local church is viewed by many as a big soul-saving station, which could give one the idea salvation of souls only occurs within a church assembly or church building.
...Salvation, of course, is never confined and should not be confined to just meetings like this.
...I believe more correctly that a church, according to the Bible, is a feeding ground for those who are already Christians; the meetings that occur are for worship, prayer, fellowship, and it is a time for equipping the believers from the Bible, for serving in the body of Christ. We should be getting equipped that we might take the Gospel to the marketplace - observe Ephesians 4:11-13 -
...11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
...12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
...13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

This is a great quote from George McLeod:
...I simply argue that the cross be raised again at the centre of the marketplace as well as on the steeple of the church. I am recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but on a cross between two thieves, on the town garbage heap, at a crossroad so cosmopolitan they had to write his title in Hebrew, Latin and Greek. It was the kind of place where cynics talk smut, thieves curse, and soldiers gamble. That’s where he died. And that’s where Christians ought to be and what Christians ought to be about.
************************************************************
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
(Acts 16:31)
...Whosoever will, may come.

Absolutely. When Jesus was eating with the tax collectors and sinners, the pharisees accused Him of doing something wrong, but He said that it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. However, Christians aren't sinners. Don't get me wrong, they still sin, but that isn't what defines them. The Bible says that they are new creations in Christ. And they we are the righteousness of God in Him. In other words God sees us as righteous, because we have entered into the new covenant with Him through the blood of Jesus. And God said "though your sins are like scarlet, I will remember them no more." So, I am not a "sinner" even though I sin, I am the righteousness of God in Christ, because I am a new creation in Christ, and so are all other christians.

I don't have to go to church to get my sins forgiven. I can ask for God's forgiveness any time and any place. I go to church to worship God and thank Him for all he's done for me. I go to church to hear the preaching and learn more about God and to fellowship and share with other Christians. And I go to church because it is good for me and helps me with my life.

I attended a Pentecostal church that was definitely a hospital for the mentally ignorant and insane.

Yes, we are all sinners.
Church is not for the perfect, and we all fall short of it.
We heal through prayers, confession, the Holy Eucharist.
What would we do without it?

I saw it as a social club where people could act important in front of other people. Maybe that's just the congregation I grew up in.
