Ok, both have carbohydrates that will be turned into energy in your body. But an apple has more vitamins and minerals, and apples are more effective than a cup of coffee when it comes to perking someone up, it's a medical fact I saw on Discovery Health. I've also personally experienced those benefits.
I would definitely eat the apple for the sake of vitamins and minerals. Fuji and Gala apples are my faves! They don't turn brown after sitting around for a while like the others, and they're always crisp and yummy!
Also, every time you eat something with carbohydrates, make sure you have a little lean protein with it, it will slow the digestion of the carbs so your blood sugar doesn't spike and crash suddenly. My suggestions are low-fat cheese, chicken, and turkey, white meat only, no dark meat! It's full of fat!

Both are fairly good for you. Apples are in the fruit section of the pyramid whereas noodles are in the grain section. If you go to http://kidshealth.org/kid/stay_healthy/food/go_slow_whoa.html they list foods that are "Go" foods (healthy, can eat frequenlty), "slow" foods (not as healthy, should be eaten only occassionally), and "whoa" foods (not very healthy.) Fruits are all in the "go" section. Noodles are in the "slow" section if they're not whole-grain. So, I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Seeing as you're running track, I'm guessing that you want more carbs than less, so I'd suggest whole-grain noodles for you. (By the way: you need about 1 1/2 cups of fruit each day and about 6 ounces of bread/grain each day.)

An apple by far! It will give you just enough energy without weighing you down.

The pasta is good in your case if you eat it for dinner the night before.
The apple is good for your situation if you eat it about 1/2 hour before practice.
