Because some men believe that sex is just that; sex. But they also believe that women ONLY have sex with intimacy and love. Therefore, if a man cheats, it's "just sex - it doesn't mean anything" but if a woman cheats, it's love or romance and it means the guy she cheats with has somehow snagged her heart.

But it's a myth. It's true for some people but men and women do not have sex or view sex like this double standard. Plenty of women have "meaningless sex" and plenty of men reserve their intimacy for the person they love ONLY. It's a myth but lots of people (especially men) believe it.

u know i have to be honest i think about that all the time u ALWAYS hear about that sort of thing like a guy goes and gets drunk and winds up at some random girls house and there have sex and sleeping together but when it comes to the other way around the bf gets abusive. i mean i guess that it is human nature to go and just want to sleep around just to go and have ur needs met but i don't think that ANY guy OR GIRL for that matter should cheat on either one or anybody. its not right and if u have a religion u would know that too ull just end up living a long and sad and pathetic life cause not only will u not be able to b trusted but the person u cheated on will not b able to trust the next person they meet as easily. but yea u shouldn't cheat its not right

Most men are raised to believe in the double standard. What is cool for the guys is trashy for the girls. It takes a load of maturity to distinguish between plain sex and a real love affair. All to often the passions take over before reasoning can set in. Men are easily aroused and it was no accident that God made women take longer to get warmed up. Women have been burdened with making the right choices in mating much longer and that is why Men feel irresponsible when they get aroused.

Traditional patriarchal thinking that's dominated most of society for thousands of years.

See, a man must spread his seed, be fruitful and multiply, et cetera. But a woman is a man's property and must be faithful only to him.

You still see remnants of that; if a guy sleeps with 100 girls he's a stud, and the 100 girls are sluts. Paradox in a box. Or men are 'allowed' to be openly horny and women aren't. Or you hear guys talking like, "Don't tell us about your old boyfriends, it makes you used goods." Or, in a different sense, a woman's virginity is considered more valuable than a man's.

I know I used a lot of generalizations there but it should get my point across.

It is an EGO thing they feel like it is OK because of society and men can do it with no real consequences (So they think) but times are changing and now men can look like sluts now too women can talk and figure out that eventually he is a looser and those are most often the guys that end up alone and unhappy

It's the male instinct of wanting to get their genes out there. Look at other species of animals: the males will mate with as many females as possible, but are very territorial if other males sniff around their females. It's just reproductive biology; the male that gets his genes out there the most and prevents other males from mating with his females, gets his genes past on more.

Also note that in a lot of other cultures (past and present) men take multiple wives or concubines. It's just the same thing. Them trying to have as many mates as they can. And they get pretty angry if any of their wives sleep with another man. Rarely in history do we see women with multiple husbands. I think Cleopatra was one of the few famous women who had a lot of men at her disposal. Maybe the Amazon women did too....?

well its simple really....men THINK they have the right due to years and years of women being depicted as inferior and second class citizens, if you think about it we haven't even had the vote for all that long.
And they get angry/wounded because its a sucky thing to do to someone.
Just remember what is good for the goose is good for the gander!

No man should ever cheat on his girlfriend or spouse. It's just wrong, and I don't know how some guys like infidelity.

my ex did that to me. slept around and it was okay but when i kissed someone else on the cheek i was crucified. guys want to be in control of everything thats why guys think its okay. they think what they do involves no emotion and whatever girls do always involves emotion. if ur dating someone like that drop em. cause if someone cares for u they don't do things like that.
